This part of China is widely recognised as the region where Chinese civilisation originated so it’s no surprise there is a lot of history around here. Although now a largely industrialised city, Luoyang was once the prosperous capital of 13 dynasties and the Old Town still has some interesting backstreets to explore. At these traditional style shops, you can pick up some local snacks, traditional drums and Chinese calligraphy.
