The original House of Pioneers and Little Octobrists dates back to 1937. The cultural centre stopped functioning in the early days of the Axis occupation of Tiraspol during the Great Patriotic War (World War II) and was blown up by retreating Germans towards the end of the conflict. The institution then had no permanent home until the new building in the style of Soviet Modernism was completed in 1980.
