Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure

Location: Banja Luka, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Completed: 1973

Architect: Miroslav Matasović

Genre: Modernist, Socialist architecture, former Yugoslavia

This Roman Catholic church was constructed after the original Gothic-style building was destroyed during two successive earthquakes that hit the city on 26th and 27th October 1969. The bell tower was added in 1991 and, not long after, suffered damage, still visible today, inflicted during the Bosnian War (April 1992-December 1995).
