Oman is rugged and beautiful but public transport is limited to connecting main cities and towns so the best way to see the country is to hire a car, self-driven or with a driver. We did the latter and this photograph of our driver was taken in the Western Hajar Mountains en route between the now capital of Muscat and the former ancient capital of Nizwa.
