Stone Flower

Location: Jasenovac, Croatia

Completed: 1966

Architect: Bogdan Bogdanović

Genre: Spomenik, Socialist memorial, former Yugoslavia

Along with other memorials and a museum as part of the same complex, the five petal cement flower commemorates the hundreds of thousands of victims who perished at the Jasenovac concentration camp during World War II. The camp was established and administered by fascist Croatian Ustaša forces, who were allied with Nazi Germany, and was one of the ten largest extermination camps in Europe.
