Monument to the Miner Fighters

The monument commemorates the 1921 miners’ strike in Labin that quickly became an anti-fascist rebellion and was eventually suppressed by the Italian administration in Istria at the behest of the mine owners themselves. The insurrection is considered to be the world’s first anti-fascist uprising and a number of miners died during the uprising. More information about the Monument to the Miner Fighters.
