A main focal point on Tito Square, the Cultural Centre (Dom Kulture) was hailed as one of the finest buildings in Yugoslavia when it was completed in 1959. “Muse of Art”, the batik-style relief in the centre of the building’s facade, was added in 1960. Created by Slovenian sculptor, Stojan Batič, it is divided into three vertical sections which symbolise fine arts (top), drama (middle) and music (bottom). A large-scale renovation project was carried out on the building between 2005 and 2006. More information about the Cultural Centre.
