UNESCO World Heritage Sites

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

There are currently 1052 UNESCO World Heritage listed sites in the world. Each year the list grows.

The official full list can be found here. We are not overly obsessed with seeing as many UNESCO sites as possible during our travels but if we are near one, we certainly make the effort to go and see it.

To date, we have visited 298 sites between us (Mark 265 and Kirsty 230) in 85 countries and territories worldwide.

There are 13 countries where we have visited all of the UNESCO sites; Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Georgia, Guatemala, Holy See, Laos, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal and Singapore.

Our highest tally to date is India (with 25 out of 35 sites visited), whereas some of our least impressive are very close to home – France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom itself!

There are currently 163 countries and territories in the world with at least one UNESCO World Heritage listed site – we’ve still got a way to go …
