The project for the Soviet-era Parus Hotel in Dnipro was never completed and the property is currently abandoned. There are rumours that the place was once a hangout for the notorious Ukrainian serial killers, the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs who were two 19‑year-old local teenagers responsible for a murder spree in the city during June and July 2007. The pair, plus a third conspirator, were eventually arrested, tried and given life sentences for premeditated murder, robbery and animal cruelty.
